Obsidiopolis

A crossover physical and digital activation at Meow Wolfs House of Eternal Return

We developed a hybrid activation for the Obsidipolis room by Janell Langford inside Meow Wolf’s House of Eternal Return, connecting a physical RFID object with a digital AR experience. Visitors received a custom church fan embedded with an RFID chip that unlocked interactions and content specific to the Obsidipolis environment.

The same fan also served as a marker for an Instagram AR effect that opened a portal into the Obsidipolis world, featuring reactive visuals and synchronized audio. The activation tied together the physical artifact, in-room technology, and the AR layer into one cohesive interaction.

This project reflects our approach to experiential work. When designing installations, we consider our physical and digital elements always together, never seperately.
